Pianist Immin Chung Poser is internationally engaged as a solo pianist and a chamber
musician. She has presented numerous solo recitals, appeared in concerts and festivals,
such as International Bartok Congress Concert, International Piano Festival in Houston,
Contemporary Music Society of Korea Annual Concert, Lake Cumberland Performing Arts
Series among others, and has been invited to several universities as a guest artist.
Dr. Chung Poser got her music education in Korea, USA and Switzerland. She graduated
from Yewon School with highest honors, receiving an Award for the Best Student and an
Award for Excellent Performers. After completing Seoul Arts High School with honor, Dr.
Chung Poser studied at Seoul National University, where her primary teacher was
Jung-Kyu Kim. During her study, she was awarded a Full Scholarship for Excellence from
the President of Seoul National University and teaching assistantship. She earned her
Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music from Seoul National University, where she
graduated with highest honor (Master's Thesis: A Study and Analysis on "Contrasts" of
Béla Bartók).
Dr. Chung Poser continued her studies at the
University of Texas at Austin, where she studied with
Danielle Martin. She held a fellowship and teaching
assistantship during her study at UT Austin. She
worked with Dr. Elliott Antokoletz on her doctoral
dissertation "Mathematical and Architectural
Concepts Manifested in Iannis Xenakis's Piano
Music," (see also Research) and earned her Doctor
of Musical Arts in piano performance in 2003. She
studied additionally with Gilbert Kalish, Abbey
Simon, David Kaiserman, and Rudolf Buchbinder at
Hochschule für Musik Basel.
Ms. Chung Poser is active as a widely recognized
and sought after educator. She has taught and is
currently appointed at several music schools in
Switzerland. As a published author, she has also
translated books such as "Illustrated Book of Great
Composers" by Wendy Thompson (2004, Anness
Publishing, UK).
Immin Chung Poser currently resides in Switzerland with her family.
